Volvo Outlines Growth Plans Amid Sale Rumors

July 1st, 2009

Fredrik Arp, the president and CEO of Volvo Car Corporation, is not affected by the intensifying rumors about the potential sale of the Swedish automaker along with its Premier Automotive Group (PAG) siblings – Jaguar and Land Rover. Amid rumors, the automaker is outlining growth plans to boost its global sales.

When asked if Volvo had a long-term future with Ford, he replied “you should ask Ford about that. I am not dealing with hypothesis, I am focusing on operating and running Volvo Cars and we are doing very fine this year.”

“The reason I reject going into this speculation and discussion is that it is not in the interests of Volvo Car stakeholders, customers, dealers or anybody else, and [because] I do not own the business. However, as we have consistently been saying since last year, Ford has been considering a number of strategic options for all of our operations, as any responsible business should do,” the Wall Street Journal quoted Arp as saying.

Currently, the Gothenburg-based car manufacturer is in the middle of a dual model launch programme with the imminent launch of the new V70 and XC70 – sales of estate cars represented over one-third of the brand’s global sales in 2006.

The new Volvo V70, launched last February, was developed to be a slightly more up-market than its predecessor, but remains the same size. The car features unique styling sharing little externally with other Volvos. The equipment used will be far different from Volvo 740 parts. The V70 shares the Ford EUCD platform and much of the interior with the new S80. It is equipped with a 3.2l straight-six, a 3.0l turbo straight-six, a light-pressure turbo 2.5l straight-five, and two 2.4l straight-five diesel engines.

Arp was surprised to know that General Motors Corp. was planning to enhance Saab’s profitability by decreasing output and zeroing in on cost reduction. From his standpoint, the CEO explained that Volvo was in the lucky situation of driving growth, global sales grew eight percent year-on-year (y/y) in the first five months of 2007 and the company is using its current installed capacity more efficiently, meaning that there was no need to expand production in Europe or anywhere else in the medium term.

The Swedish automaker has a total annual production capacity of around 580,000 units worldwide, of which it produces about 450,000 units annually and wants to concentrate on making further efficiency gains to bolster its growth ambitions. By 2010, Volvo aims to sell 600,000 units around the globe. The target will be supported by Volvo’s Sweden, Belgium and China plants.

Volvo confirmed to Global Insight that the all-new XC60 crossover will come out during the second half of 2008 and development was according to plan. It means that the production version will be very close to the concept. “Beyond the XC60 we have not any firm thoughts and I will not comment on speculation around the possible consolidation of the S40 and S60 into one model. We think about all sorts of model developments and we see the segment created by the Mercedes B-class as very interesting, at the same time we are thinking whether the XC60 will have a little brother that could be categorized as a Multi-Activity Vehicle,” Arp concluded.

Volvo does not intend to produce cars in the United States, its largest market, despite the weak US currency, Automotive News Europe quoted Arp as saying. The combination of a weak currency and overcapacity prevents North American OEMs from passing on raw material price hikes, said Arp. This makes setting up a plant and assembling vehicles in the US expensive, the report stated.

Is Google in Trouble & Facing Bankruptcy?

June 29th, 2009

This would come as a SHOCK to investors and “Googlers” alike who

both profit and benefit from the use of the World’s largest and

most powerful search engine which receives far in excess of

100 MILLION unique daily visitors and well over 300 million

individual searches daily – making it perhaps the single most

valuable public data resource as an “information bank” online the

world over.

But is the rumor true or false?

The origin of the rumor occurred when some savvy Internet marketers

began making statements that they had heard “insiders’ talk” that

the company (now publicly traded since April 30, 2004, just over 3

years ago) may face financial disaster with the release of a “new

system” that would allow advertisers to get their otherwise

pay-per-click (PPC) advertising completely free.

This, of course, would naturally lead directly (like a domino-

effect) to the collapse of Google’s sibling program AdSense; as its

only revenue comes from the direct sales of AdWords “clicks.”

The “new system” in question and responsible for the controversy

over getting AdWords pay-per-clicks free is that developed by

Dr Jon Cohen of New York City, New York (now retired) who discovered

a simple, yet effective means, for getting Google PPC ads without

having to suffer the costs involved.

The retired New York doctor and native has a publicly disclosed net

worth now in excess of $70 million [US], having generated well over

$377 million in product sales from sixteen (16) separate online

businesses within just nine (9) years since first venturing online

in 1998 (about the same time as Google was founded).

It is estimated by company insiders and leading financial analysts

that the “good doctor” (as he’s called by “all who know him”) has

purportedly saved well over $93 million (some estimates suggest

closer to $136 million) in otherwise paid advertising at Google and

the other major players in the PPC targeted-search arena online -

including Yahoo, MSN, AskJeeves, AllTheWeb.com, HotBot, AltaVista,

Lycos and Netscape, just to name a few.

The “secret” became available to the general masses last April, and

its very release caused such a major sweeping stir among the

community of Internet-marketers, affiliate-marketers, webmasters,

ecommerce company owners and surfers alike that the site quickly

rose to break the top most visited 1,000 websites on the entire

planet briefly; and as can be seen here:

http://tinyurl.com/39lnjn (Alexa data on this!)

When asked if the “secret” would somehow ruin Google, Dr Cohen

revealed almost cryptically that it actually would bring about just

the opposite effect, and “stimulate” even more business volume for

the virtual giant.

Many people were dismayed to find that Google itself is deliberately

allowing the purchase of 100,000’s of PPC ads offering the secret

system to the general public — which indicates to most observers

that either they [Google] haven’t caught it, or they simply feel

that it somehow is not a threat to their continued operation.

For anyone’s inspection factual and hard evidence supporting this

can be seen by simply looking to the right-hand column when doing a

search for “get google ads free” (specifically in quotation marks)

at Google.com under the “Sponsored Links” section.

Or take this direct and instant SHORTCUT:

http://tinyurl.com/2ctu6j

You can also see nearly 100,000 specific results in the “organic”

fields index located in the center and which occupies the bulk of

the results pages.

One would think that if Google felt threatened by such a release as

this earth-shaking “secret” is, they would hardly allow for either

paid-ads or organic content to make the top searches regarding it.

However, evidence supports to the contrary – and this being the

case now for a full six (6) months.

Mysteriously, within just two (2) hours of its initial release last

April, Google itself actually did in fact ‘pause’ the parent firm’s

attempts at advertising the new system using PPCs on their search

engine – only, however, to release the hold after a Review Team

consisting of some of Google’s top executives completed performing

an in-depth investigation and made the determination to ALLOW the

ads to run.

The secret system was recently revised however to include “major

new content” and “more exhaustive instructions,” and is now

available at its Home Site:

http://www.themoneyouwant.com/google

The most important addition is that of a so-called “string of code”

(tech-talk for some HTML) that can be added to any webpage(s) that

instantly causes the elimination of the page owner’s AdWords costs

right away.

Even a “live” woman spokes-representative (”Rachel”) has been added

to the site, and who appears to literally walk out onto the webpage

and talk to visitors and explain a bit more how the mysterious new

breakthrough system works.

Since the addition of this new “live” spokes-woman has now appeared

at the site, company Vice President of Sales & Marketing, Mr Todd

Coutrin states that “sales for the system have skyrocketed above

2,430% suddenly and with no limit in sight.”

Coutrin continues: “With the newest revision now in place, plus all

the additions added, affiliates for the new system can expect to

earn even more than ever before!” (Note: Affiliates make up the

bulk of the firm’s sales generation.)

The refund rate for the new revised version of the secret (named

V5.1) has dropped to less than half of what it was before the newer

version’s release; meaning it’s now even more readily-received and

put to use than ever before (perhaps in large part to the newer

simplicity of application) – now making it the safest and one of

the best resellers for the networks of affiliate marketers who earn

their revenues from the reselling of other electronic publishers’

stock and digital product lines.

When asked, Google company representatives stated matter-of-factly

that the rumors of bankruptcy for the ecommerce giant are simply

not true, and that the rumor millings are in fact simply the result

of “panics” brought on by the usual hysteria associated with

anything large, new or revolutionary – or in this case, all three.

Attempts to contact both Sergey Brin and Larry Page, the former

Stanford University students who founded Google in 1998, to request

comment were unsuccessful.

Again, Google itself seems to be the biggest supporter of the “new

system” as it’s allowing more and more advertisers to promote the

new system on its search engine before over 100 million daily

searches and surfers.

IRS Incentives for Hybrid Owners

June 26th, 2009

The hybrid car has not come into the world without a shroud of rumors following carefully behind. From rumors of exploding batteries, electrical and digital nightmares, and poorly met expectations letting down consumers, the hybrid has had to struggle to overcome many misconceptions. Makers have not let myth and rumor keep them from creating better hybrids in new and old models. Toyota, Ford, Lexus, Honda, Nissan, Mazda, Dodge, Chevy, GM and Saturn are either in the process of creating, or have already, released several high performing hybrids. A total of 20 hybrid models are available, or are soon to be so. With just about every maker producing hybrids, incentives to keep the industry rolling are filling up the market with a fresh batch of rumors. The IRS is stepping up to explain as clearly as they can, what one of these options for the buyers of the most fuel efficient vehicles, really are shaping up to be. The Clean Vehicle adjustment being used for personal and business owners is helping to encourage the purchase of hybrid vehicles.

Some may still be skeptical since gas markets are so closely linked with politics for most of the world. The truth is that the government is actually interested in getting away from foreign fuel dependency. Getting more people to spend the extra money on a hybrid is being encouraged to help the market. The IRS is playing a major role in these incentives by offering tax credits. The catch is that one of these credits have limits based upon how many hybrids are sold of each model. After a point, the credits will be phased out. On the Federal level, these credits run from a few hundred dollars to more than $2,500 for buying the2006 Ford Escape. Apparently, like most IRS laws, the calculations for the credits are a complicated jumble of formulas based on how many of a model is sold, over a particular period of time. Luckily, most buyers of hybrids are successfully receiving the credits. Buying a Toyota or Honda hybrid requires that you’re one of the first 60,000 people to purchase one starting in January 2006. The amount of the credit also depends on which percentage of the tax bracket one falls into. Buyers of hybrids in 2004 or 2005 were able to claim as high as a $2,000 deduction on their taxes. For those in the 15% tax bracket, the deduction fell to about $300.

The tax credits are based on the Working Families Tax Relief Act of 2004. According to the IRS, the credits will be phased out after 2006 and must be claimed for the year that the hybrid was purchased. Luckily, one can claim the back credit for up to three years from the purchase of the hybrid by using the 1040X form, or the Amended U.S. Individual Tax Return form. Another form related to hybrid owners is the IRS Publication 535. Mostly used for business expenses, this form can be used for almost anyone who owns a hybrid, whether or not they use it for business purposes.

While hybrid owners are also getting incentives on the state level with their state income tax returns and also with special car pool or HOV lane privileges, some believe that the incentives on the Federal level need to be even better. For example, the fact that the incentive will be as little as $500 for 2006, and thereafter, nonexistent, does not provide many people time to catch up with the extra money they will should purchase a hybrid vehicle in the first place. Many see the mainstream entry of hybrids into the automobile market as the sign that fuel efficiency and environmental concerns are becoming part of the American culture. One offset to the phase out of tax incentives for the purchase of hybrids is that the prices themselves are more attainable with each year. Right now, most people have to pay $5,000 to $9,000 more for a hybrid version of the car or SUV they want. That number is a bit more than most people are ready to pay yet, but with almost every major maker of vehicles producing hybrids, it is foreseeable that hybrid prices will get lower with each passing year, whether or not incentives are offered by the government.

5 Signs That A Relationship Is Over

June 26th, 2009

Relationships are fragile and not everyone you meet is destined to be your soul mate. But, that’s the good thing about dating. You can meet different people so that you will know when the right person does come along. So, what are some of the indications that your relationship may be headed south? Take a look at the following 5 signs and see if your love will pass the test.

Inconvenience. Does your partner all of a sudden act as though making time for you is a burden? If you feel like your sweetheart cannot or will not fit you into their busy schedule, there may be a reason. If you’re spending more and more time apart, it may be time to make the distance permanent.

Defensiveness. When your mate isn’t where he/she is supposed to be and then becomes defensive when asked about it, you may have a problem. This may be a sign of cheating or just plain out dishonesty but, either way, it’s a good indication that the relationship is in trouble.

Dishonesty. If someone deceives you, it’s not okay. Whether it’s something that you can forgive or not, that’s a personal decision. Regardless of the deceit or it’s severity, the fact that your partner was dishonest is not an indication that the relationship is heading in the right direction. Why did this person deceive you and why did they believe it was okay? If this situation isn’t corrected, the relationship is just as good as finished either way you look at it.

Constant arguments. If you and your mate are always bickering, ask yourself what has changed within the relationship to create all of the hostility. If nitpicking is a problem, why does it seem as though the other person is always trying to start an argument? If there are legitimate reasons for the disagreements, what are they and what lead to their development? In some cases, people just change and may even grow apart. If your occasional argument has turned into a daily habit, it may be time to reevaluate the relationship and try to determine whether or not these issues can or will ever be resolved.

The rumor mill. Rumors are rumors and sometimes they may be just that. But some say there is a little bit of truth to every one. If people are talking about your mate, listen to what they are saying and decide for yourself whether or not there is any credibility to their statements. When you’re in love, your judgement may be clouded and you may even be angry at those who are talking. In deciding who and what to believe, first consider who is doing the talking. Is it someone that cares for you and has always had your best interest at heart? If so, take a good listen to what they are saying. This doesn’t mean that you should believe everything that you hear and, by that same token, you shouldn’t disbelieve it either.

Prison Break Season Three Rumors and Spoilers!

June 24th, 2009

Prison Break fans are intently watching out for news about its third season, which is currently shooting on set. Rumors and spoilers have soared, and it seems that the show will be going back to its roots–to the prison.

Production for Prison Break is currently taking place in Texas, which is supposedly standing in for Panama. The quick look viewers had of the Sona at the end of the last season isn’t anything compared to the major exterior and interior sets that were built exclusively for the shoot.

Fans are wondering how much of the new season will take place in the Sona, and from the amount of preparations the whole production team has done, we believe most of it. Another thing to take into consideration are the mysterious white coat clad guys who are watching Michael’s moves, for rumor has it that the central plot for the third season will be evolving in the prison, thus Michael might have to stay a little while longer.

So what about Lincoln Burrow’s storyline? Early this year, rumors started flying that one brother would die, and of course that would have to be Lincoln, because it would entirely defeat the purpose of the plot if Michael did get killed, right? So Linc is the target of this rumor which says that he might not go deep into the third season. Other fans think that this rumor may have spread just to keep them hooked, as if they weren’t already.

Currently, Michael’s importance to the enigmatic organization has been fully established therefore fans expect more Sona action, and that again, Lincoln would be the most likely suspect for the near-dead brother.

Yet more spoilers as most fans already know about a woman approaching Lincoln in the first episode of the first season, and giving him a mysterious iPod. New casting information confirmed that this enigmatic woman is an agent of The Company, which is a top secret project involved in monitoring Michael’s prison breaking activities. This leaves a question, among others, behind. Is Lincoln being set up?

Is it Possible for an Internet Newbie Network Marketer to Successfully Build a Team Online?

June 23rd, 2009

It’s 2:00 a.m., Jan 3, 2009, and I am just too wired to go to bed! Why? Because I just joined the twenty-first century! Let me explain . . .

As a career network marketer of 20+ years, my teambuilding was obviously done through “traditional” methods. When I started my network-marketing career, the internet wasn’t even a glint in Bill Gates’ eye!

If you are a traditional network marketer, you know the drill: Make a list of everyone you know, call them up, set appointments, show them a DVD, then call your up-line for a third-party testimony. Then when the prospective team member doesn’t join on the spot, try to check back with them the next day at the agreed-upon time. When you don’t reach them, continue to follow up with phone calls until your dialing finger wears out and you are forced to face the fact that they have quit answering your calls. People who used to be your friends would now cross the street rather than bump into you. (Congratulations! You have joined the NFL Club –“No Friends Left!”)

Thankfully, I had promoted past the point of having to continually find new team members myself. But I had grown weary of constantly trying to motivate members of my team who were weary of constantly trying to find more people to expose to the business opportunity. I was out of ideas for ways to suggest to them for finding more people to talk to.

I began to hear tantalizing rumors of online systems for lead generation and even sponsorship. But others vehemently declared these rumors were just myths, and that network marketing will only work “belly to belly.”

I felt that if there were that many rumors, there must be something behind them. It just made sense to me that the internet is the tool to use to reach more people! Where else can you contact hundreds or even thousands of people with a click of the mouse?

In fact, I just heard this on a Perry Marshall CD: “Ten years ago Faith Popcorn wrote a book called The Popcorn Report. She said that the trend in the 90’s is “cocooning,” which basically meant that people don’t want to be bothered. If they were cocooning 10 years ago, then today they are locking themselves in a fortress! Some people hide behind their computer, reading their emails all day long, but won’t even answer their telephone. If you’re going to find a way to effectively sell to them, then you’re going to have to find a way to get invited, not as an unwelcome pest, but as an invited guest.”

I know this is the internet age, and I adamantly believe that the future of network marketing will be predominately online.  After all, that’s the trend for everything else!

I believed there were probably network marketers using the internet to build their teams, and I was determined to find out for myself!

So the quest began. For months, I spent untold hours diligently searching and researching, seeking the true answer to the question “Is it possible to successfully build a team online in a network marketing company?” After many months of thorough investigation, I am convinced that I have found the answer: Unequivocally, “YES, IT IS!”

Not only did the results of my research prove to me that it is possible, but it is fast becoming a much-preferred technique to “traditional” network marketing methods.

Contrast a) all the time, effort and hassle involved in chasing a limited number of prospects, with b) sitting comfortably at your computer, reaching hundreds of people in the amount of time it would take to make a phone call or two! Sure, I know “it’s not as effective as being in the same room with someone.” But the sheer numbers more than make up for that disadvantage!

The auto-responders do a great job of building a friendly “relationship” with the prospect. If you’ve ever been on someone’s mailing list, you likely have experienced feeling like you almost know the person who’s been sending you those emails and newsletters.

And consider the fact that people are looking specifically for an “online business.” They know they don’t want to have to chase people, either!

Once it registered with me that my original question had in fact been answered, the obvious next question was: “How?” This triggered many more hours of research on my part, tracking down and analyzing the many “turnkey” systems that promise to build your team for you “on autopilot.”

While the systems I studied vary widely in specifics, all share the common goal of having the system do virtually all of the “prospecting.” The object is to save you from wasting any of your valuable time to find out if someone is a prospect or not. Anyone you talk to should have already learned about your business, qualified themselves, and either contacted you or requested a call.

While you may have some emails and phone calls to return from prospects and people who join your team online, your main work is to drive lots of traffic to the lead capture pages of your system. The more traffic the better. Don’t be alarmed – if you select a good system, the tutorials included with it will teach you everything you need to know to do that successfully.

A fringe benefit of many systems, that I heartily endorse, is a way to make money from prospects who do not even join your business!

After several months of studying various systems, I finally recognized that I was suffering from “analysis paralysis.” I decided it was time to stop researching and start testing! I narrowed the field to the three systems I was the most impressed with, and spent a week analyzing and comparing the three. I forced myself to make a decision, and selected one to test.  I spent this evening getting it all set up & personalized.

And I did it myself! Yes! I, by myself, was actually able to follow all the instructions in the video tutorials to “plug into the system” and get it up and running without a hitch! Those who know me, with my woeful lack of computer skills, probably won’t be able to believe that, but I swear it’s true! And I didn’t even have to find a teenager to help me! (Although if I had, I would probably have been typing this at 9:00 pm 1/2/09 instead of 2:00 a.m. 1/3/09!)

If the fact that I did it by myself doesn’t speak volumes for the people who put the system together, and wrote the tutorials, I don’t know what would! All the instructions were crystal clear, easy to understand and easy to follow! No tiny little detail was omitted.

Not only did the video tutorials walk me through every single little step, but I even acquired a few skills that will come in handy outside of the system itself!  For example, I have had an auto-responder system for months, but hadn’t yet learned how to use it! I quickly and easily learned how to use it tonight from the tutorial video of my team-building system! It was really very simple once I had someone showing me, in the video, and walking me through the steps of actually using it!

I am ecstatic to finally have my 21st century online team building system up and running! I have tested it, and it is operating like clockwork! Now I am going to apply the techniques for generating traffic that I have learned in my months of research, with the help of the tutorials in the system, and throw open the floodgates! Hallelujah!

After I sleep in, that is!

The Best Advice for Getting Over a Break Up

June 21st, 2009

It finally happened. Your ex broke your heart. You feel are no longer the same person. You mope around and refuse invitations from friends. You may experience intense anger and self control issues. Understanding that these are normal reactions will make it easier to get over a break up.

So, what now? How to get over the break up? How do you move forward with your life when you feel like you have just lost everything? Understanding that “all things happen for a reason” and that “nothing last forever” can actually help make the break up easier for you.

In order to get over a break up, allow yourself time to get the anger out of your system. Anger will eat at you inside and make you bitter. Take a yoga class or join an online blogging community to talk about what has happened.

Sometimes your friends and family members can be great sounding boards. However, occasionally you may find certain friends, especially those close with both you and your ex, will avoid you. They may be uncomfortable and not know what to say. They may feel the break is your fault. Whatever the reasoning is, try to understand your friends’ points of view as well. With time, your friends should come back around to you. If they don’t, consider it a life lesson and move on.

Find an activity you can immerse yourself into. Helping out at a homeless shelter or reading to children will make you realize you are worth something. Deal with your self esteem issues in a positive way.

Revenge is often one way dealing with a break up, but will almost always backfire. Learning to let go is one of the best ways of getting over a break up. Difficult sometimes, yes, but worth the trouble in the long run.

Take care of yourself. Make sure you eat properly, rest, and get exercise. Exercising will release endorphins, which will make you feel happier, even if you truly aren’t. Avoid destructive behavior, such as over indulging in alcohol, abusing prescription drugs, or partaking in illegal drugs. Sooner or later, you will have to deal with and get over the break up.

Talk to your family members. Most people have been through at least one break up at sometime in their lives. Listen to the advice given and see if you can apply it to your situation.

Allow yourself time to heal. Jumping headfirst into another relationship is not wise at this point. It is difficult to trust right now, and may take a long time to develop the ability to trust someone new. It isn’t fair to the new person in your life if you become involved while still healing from a break up. Enjoy your solitude and use the time to grow as a person.

Remember that people can be exceptionally cruel. Rumors can fly about who was responsible for what during the break up. Sometimes ignoring these rumors is enough for the interest to die down. Surely another acquaintance will do something more interesting that you and they will be the topic for the rumors.

Remember, to get over your break, you need to take care of yourself, talk to trusted people, and ignore the rumors. Following these tips should help make the break up a little less painful.

Lauren Koslow not Leaving ‘days’

June 21st, 2009

In an interview with Soap Opera Weekly, Lauren Koslow finally spoke about the rumors that have been circulating on the internet regarding her exit from Days of Our Lives. Koslow, who plays Kate Roberts on the show, corrected the gossips and said that she is not leaving the show, contrary to the reports that have been spreading around.

Koslow said that the reports about Kate’s death were overly exaggerated. The rumor has been going around the internet for almost a month. Koslow’s fans took action by sending letters and complaints to NBC’s production office. They utilized both courier mail service and email and their petition was signed by over 900 people.

Koslow said that she hopes this incident will serve as reminder to people regarding the dominance of the internet. “It’s a very powerful medium, but it also has the power to deceive. One little malicious piece of gossip can spread like wildfire until it seems like truth! I feel badly for fans of the show, fans of Kate, who were misled by it,” she explained.

Koslow also shared that she didn’t knew about the rumors until her manager told her. She was surprised that things have gotten so serious. “I went online and saw all the stuff about my firing and that Kate was being killed and that I’d resigned but was unhappy because it was half [the money of my old] contract.
